About Me

May Al-Fartousi

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Counsellor with specialized training in the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) and certification as a Trauma Integration Clinician (CTIC). My extensive training equips me to support individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional challenges, stress management, and anti-oppression work.

Years of traveling locally and internationally have deepened my understanding of human experiences and suffering. This journey has fueled my passion for compassionate care, connection, and recovery support for those navigating life’s challenges.

My Educational Background

I hold master’s degrees in Counselling Psychology and Education, along with a Ph.D. from Brock University. My postdoctoral research at the University of Ottawa focused on multicultural competence, earning me several national and provincial awards for my work in social justice and equity.

With over 15 years of academic research on youth, individuals, families, and educators navigating values and life challenges—and more than five years of clinical experience—I am dedicated to helping you explore what feels meaningful and authentic in your journey.

I also lead workshops and training sessions locally and internationally, guiding professionals and individuals through challenges like stress management, anxiety, and depression, including those arising from COVID-19

My Clinical Approach

With a deep understanding of human diversity, I offer therapy tailored to your unique needs, blending sensory processing, somatics, CBT, resource installation, bilateral stimulation, sensory regulation, and mindfulness. I’ve also studied energy therapy techniques, including ancestral cords, boundaries, and protection through Nativa Medica.

Beyond my training, my experiences as a parent of four, former educator, and researcher have shaped my approach. Having lived in war-torn countries, I firmly believe the human mind has the resilience to overcome life’s greatest challenges. I’m here to support you and be part of your healing journey.
